You Can see above that the display of both the tablets are almost same except 7.8"inch display of iPad Mini, in respect of resolution both the tablets are same.Main difference between these two tablets is processor,here Nexus is leading because,I think 1.2 GHz Quad Core much better than Apple's A-5 chipset A-9 dual Core processor.Connectivity of both the tablets are also same but in iPad Mini 4G-LTE is provided for better browsing experience,however in India 4G is available in some cities only.Camera also makes big difference between them iPad Mini have 5 Mega Pixel HD camera for 1080p video recording.Sensors are almost same even more in Google's Nexus 7.Battery backup of both the tablets are around 10 hours.
In short we can say that in hard ware section Google have done more jobs than Apple on their respective roducts.

I would say that if you want some extraa ordinary hardware then Nexus 7 is for you, if you want a beautiful tablet as I said many times above Apple's iPad is only the best option for you. However both the tabs are best,as you know that both the brands are well known and reputed in this market.
