An earthquake of magnitude 8.6 on the Richter scale stuck in Indonesia today. The epicenter of the earthquake was about 30km below the sea level. Tsunami alert has been raised for 28 countries following this earthquake.
The effect/tremors of this earthquake could be felt as far as in India in cities including CHENNAI, BANGALORE, KOLKATA, ANDAMAN, NICOBAR& few other cities in ANDHRA PRADESH.
A high alert on Tsunami has been raised for Andaman while the warning has already been set for Tsunami hit in Nicobar island.
The beaches of Chennai have been evacuated as a result of the Tsunami alert based on this earthquake.
In Bangalre, the tremor could be felt in RT Nagar, Sultan Palya, Sahakaranagar, Hebbal, Manyata Tech Park Nagawara, HSR Layout, ITPL, Koramangala, Forum, Mantri Mall Malleswaram, Yesvanthpura, Electronic City, Indira Nagar, Domlur and surrounding areas.
The Tsunami is expected to hit Nicobar island in the next 30 min and evacuation is already started.
